Baden_wuerttemberg-The state borders on Switzerland and France. The principal cities are: Freiburg, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Tuebingen,Heidel-berg. The rhine forms the border to France and the black forest rises east of the rhine valley. The main industries are mechanical and electrical engineering and automobile construction.The state is the economically most succesful among the 16 states of Germany, it is also home of some of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Germany. Culinary treats are the blackforest ham and cake, winemaking and the local cuisine. The blackforest is also famous for its kuckuckclock. The Kaiserstuhl features one of the warmest climates in Germany. This and the good soil makes it an excellant wine growing region.
